The "ignorant nominal" Muslim and Zuhdi Jasser

In Zuhdi Jasser's first response to Spencer in this debate, Jasser pooh-poohs the notion that what makes harmless Muslims harmless is that they are "ignorant of their own Islam" or "nominal"

(of course, his argument is not entirely coherent, as he mentions how certain Muslims have been mindful of NOT wanting Islam to influence the state or laws -- why would they be so anxious to do that, if Islam is so great according to Jasser? etc.)
